The Hummingbird Healing Center provides a beautiful safe, and supportive environment for your personal journey with ayahuasca. Located near Iquitos, Peru, we offer ayahuasca retreats of different lengths to meet your personal needs. All of our retreats include at least one san pedro ceremony, the visionary cactus of the Andes that is very complementary with ayahuasca. Our longer stays include a master plant dieta with a plant selected by our shaman depending on what you are looking to heal, address or learn.
Focused on growth and healing, our ayahuasca retreats also strive to empower people by helping them directly connect with the strength and beauty that lies within us all. Practical advice is given on how to deal with our unproductive thoughts and emotions. Our goal is that you not only benefit from the magic of these wonderful medicine plants, but also take home tools you can apply on a day to day basis.
Our retreats are limited to no more than 13 people and there are multiple caretakers in each ayahuasca ceremony who are not partaking of the medicine. Help is always available if you need it, and we encourage people to open up and talk about the struggles or frustrations they may have so we can coach them on how to transcend it with the help of ayahuasca and san pedro. We help people get clear on their intentions for each ceremony and can give practical advice on how to work with specific issues they may have.

An integral part of all our retreats are talks on our beliefs, thought patterns and the interplay between our conscious and subconscious minds. We will learn about the conditioning we received as children, and why we often have many unproductive and often harmful “programs” stored in our subconscious mind which limit our ability to live successful happy and joyful lives.
The Hummingbird offers 9 and 12 day ayahuasca retreats. All our retreats include one ceremony with San Pedro, the visionary cactus of the Andes. For those looking for deeper healing or a longer experience with ayahuasca, we also have 3 and 4 week Immersion Retreats that include dieatas with other master medicine plants.

a month agoThis is a place to heal and learn about yourself. This is not a center like others that seeks to just entertain. It is a place for healing that takes healing seriously, and is educated heavily on both the spiritual and scientific side of how the process works, so skeptics like myself have nothing to worry about. Skepticism is actually encouraged. I was told to not buy into anything until i experience it for myself, and I did. The location is 1 far away from the noise of the city so you can immerse yourself in the jungle. especially if you take the walking trail that they've made. Jim is the host. He speaks English and Spanish incredibly fluently, and is a very intelligent, educated man. He has been working with Ayahuasca and helping people as a healer for many years and his experience shows. A good sense of humor, wisdom, and intelligence make for a very nice host and a great friend. The Curandero, (shaman) is incredible. He has been working with Ayahuasca for decades. He knows a vast array of beautiful Icaros (The songs sung during ceremony) and is a master with the flute. His wisdom and knowledge of the medicine ensure you are in good hands every time you step into a ceremony. The food is delicious and fresh everyday, mostly juices, fresh fruits, and authentic Peruvian dishes with meats like chicken and catfish, however dietary restrictions are accommodated for. So if you are vegetarian, vegan, allergic, etc, you're good. Ceremonies. 6 pm, three nights in the 7 day stay. Dosage varies based off what you need and your experience with other plant medicines/your progress with your own healing and life journey. They begin with guided meditation, and shortly after the Curandero enters. preparations are done, then each individual is called up one by one to state their intention and drink the medicine. Do not be mistaken, it doesn't taste good, and it doesn't go down easy. It's medicine, it's not supposed to taste good and it's not supposed to be easy. But if you are serious about healing, then by drinking it and bearing that taste is proof to the medicine that you mean it. Intention goes a long way. Every single experience is different and tailored uniquely to each individual. People have very different experiences. My experiences were a mix of a lot of things and i expected none of it. But don't be discouraged. Even if it's uncomfortable, especially if it's uncomfortable, there is always a reason for it, and it IS helping you in some way. The curandero and Jim are extremely knowledgeable healers and know how to help you during the ceremony if you are having trouble, and give great advice for after ceremony processing. I don't know your life or who you are, but if you are serious about healing, then you've already been through some uncomfortable stuff. And if you are seeking a medicine like this, then you are dedicated. good. Stick with it and do it. You literally never know how the experience will be. I thought I was going to be bombarded with a torrent of horrendous emotions and vile vomiting, but it wasn't like that at all. I felt a love I had never felt in my life, and had a beautiful experience that refined who I am and made me feel so much better about literally everything in life. Still puked my guts out, but again, it's not supposed to be easy. you can return to your private room at the end. If you have difficulty walking, then a helper will help escort you to your room. The Huachuma (San Pedro) begins in the morning and it lasts pretty much the whole day. You are capable of functioning, doing things, and holding a conversation. Where this one shines is it's ability to let you go DEEP into your psyche and seriously ponder things in a way like no other. Some people prefer Huachuma to Ayahuasca. It can be just as if not more powerful and effective. It just depends on what you need. This place changed my life. If you are serious about healing, this is the place. Take that step and do it. it's worth it.

a month agoThis was my second visit to Hummingbird. Once again, I am very happy with my time here and the results i got. Ayahuasca is truly a magical healing medicine. Jim, Gina , Ayahuascero Manain and all the staff made me feel very safe and welcome. Jim and Manain are hugely experienced in working with Ayahuasca. Hummingbird has wonderful food and is a very comfortable peaceful place. Thanks again.

3 months agoMy time at Hummingbird Healing Center was nothing short of life-changing. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the love, care, and intention woven into every part of the retreat. Jim has created something truly special. He gives each guest personal attention and heartfelt guidance, helping you understand your ayahuasca experiences and integrate them in meaningful ways. You never feel like “just another participant”; you’re seen, supported, and encouraged every step of the way. The ceremonies with Manain, the master curandero, were profoundly beautiful. His icaros carry an ancient wisdom that fills the space with peace and strength. Each ceremony felt safe, sacred, and deeply healing. The food prepared by Gina and her team is nourishing and delicious, perfectly aligned with the dieta. The rooms are clean and refreshed daily, and the whole center runs smoothly and on time. The lake is a perfect spot to cool off and reflect, and the jungle hike was both grounding and awe-inspiring, with so much life all around. This was my first ayahuasca retreat, and it exceeded every hope I had. I left feeling clear, light, healthy, deeply connected, free of stress and full of gratitude. I had wanted an authentic Peruvian jungle experience, not a luxury resort, and I found exactly that at Hummingbird. If your heart is calling you to healing, growth, and connection with spirit, Hummingbird Healing Center is the place to go.

11 months agoI almost never write reviews, but the Hummingbird Healing center is worth writing a review for. I didn’t know exactly what to expect before I arrived as I had limited experience with psychedelics and had never worked with Ayahuasca or San Pedro before, but I received more than I ever could have imagined. This experience was nothing short of TRANSCENDENT. I think it’s really important to do this work responsibly, and that’s exactly what they do at the Hummingbird Healing center. The owner, Jim knows how to meet each individual exactly where they are at in their journey and help guide them through this process. It’s not an understatement that he helped change my life. Jim takes what I would call a “no frills approach” in that he believes these psychedelic medicines can be used to better our current lives whether it be relief from anxiety, depression or, limiting beliefs or whether it be searching for happier more meaningful and connected lives. The entire environment at the Hummingbird Healing center helps facilitate healing. Everything is really taken care of for you with room services, laundry services, and every meal being prepared for you. I think this helps allow each individual the space and time to kick back, turn inward, reflect, relax, recuperate, rest, and heal. The food deserves it own shout out because each meal was made up of delicious, nutritious, and fresh foods. I think Ayahuasca and San Pedro can be used similarly to how MDMA or psylocibin are being used to treat things like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and trauma. I feel so lucky and grateful to have come to the Hummingbird Healing center and to have had this experience. I would say I understood some of the concepts and ideas I explored in this psychedelic work intellectually before I came here, but it is truly different to experience it, viscerally feel it, and truly believe and take to heart these lessons and concepts. When I arrived here, Jim told me that he couldn’t tell me what I would experience with Ayahuasca as people’s experiences are so varied, but that I would be glad I did it. I absolutely am. What I would say if you’re uncertain is: it was hard to understand until I came, so trust. Come.

a year agoI am still in the process of fully integrating back into life here in the UK, but already I feel a deep shift in my perception. It’s as though the medicines are still working through me, gently guiding me toward greater understanding. My heart is filled with immense gratitude for the sacred space Jim, Gina and the staff held for me in their beautiful center. Jim is a vessel of knowledge, and shares his light so generously. The 9-day ceremony, where we worked with both Ayahuasca and Wachuma, was truly transformative. I felt supported and respected throughout the entire journey, and I’m grateful for the deep healing I experienced. The energy at the center was both peaceful and powerful, creating a space where I could connect deeply with the medicine and the land. The care and respect for my decisions were incredibly important to me, and I felt completely safe and held during this sacred process. I’m carrying the lessons and insights from the retreat with me as I continue to integrate them into my life. The healing I received was profound, and I’m beyond grateful for the experience.
