traditional yoga, leading to profound psychosomatic healing and vitality. For the first time ever, Simon is now leading a one-week teacher training intensive at Lanka Yoga. This unique seven-night Yoga Alliance certified course is meticulously crafted for yoga teacher training graduates, this event offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of yoga. With 8 hours a day of instruction from Simon, along with top-notch accommodation and delicious vegan meals, this intensive promises to be an enriching and rejuvenating experience. What we will be covering

This continuing education Yoga Synergy course offers a blend of meditative practices, incorporating elements of qigong, yoga, dance, martial arts, and exercise-based physiotherapy. The morning sessions span 3 hours and include breathing, chanting, meditation, joint movements, spinal movements, and fluid dynamic meditative practices. A conversational lecture follows, providing insights into the purpose behind the practices and helping prepare participants to teach. The afternoon sessions focus on using the energetic aspects of the morning practice to develop yoga postures, movement, and breathing exercises. These sessions integrate the Yoga Synergy system with exercise-based physiotherapy principles, cultivating strength, flexibility, and fitness while maintaining a meditative state.

Learning experience

Daily Morning Sessions (Approximately 3 hours)
These rejuvenating sessions with Simon cover breathwork, exercise-based physiotherapy and spinal movement yoga flows for deep physical healing and raised energy levels. Designed to boost the body’s mobility, balance and blood circulation, these practices are executed with a focus on uncovering a
sense of inner and outer flow.

Daily Lectures (Approximately 2 hours)
Conducted in a conversational, entertaining, and informative manner, the lecture session delves into the fascinating underlying principles and rationale behind your updated yoga practice as well as providing an overview of essential anatomy and physiology. During these special workshops, you’ll learn how to apply your new skills in real-world teaching scenarios.

Daily Afternoon Sessions (Approximately 3 hours)
During these transformative sessions, Simon blends Yoga Synergy with physiotherapy by supporting you as you build strength, flexibility, and overall fitness. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to engage in more
intense activity whilst keeping the mind calm, akin to the heightened focus observed in elite athletes’ zones or flow states.

In this program, each aspect of instruction is first explained verbally and then reinforced through visually-guided meditative practices set to music. This multi-layered approach is designed to provide participants with a thorough and engaging learning experience.

Daily schedule

  • 6:30-9:30 am | Morning practice
  • 9:30-11:00 am | Breakfast and relaxation
  • 11:00-1:00 pm | Lecture session with Simon
  • 2:00-4:00 pm | Retreat, relax or explore
  • 4:00-7:00 pm | Evening Practice
  • 7:00 pm onwards | Dinner and free time

Location

Our retreat is in the beautiful Duwa village, along the shores of Koggala Lake in South Sri Lanka, covering almost an acre of land. Lanka Yoga has a focus on connecting with nature and finding peace and tranquility in your surroundings. Some key features of our venue include:

The food

The all-vegan food is prepared by our amazing kitchen team. Much of the spices and veggies come from Lanka Yoga’s garden. We serve a delicious chef-designed vegan menu that utilises as many home-grown ingredients as possible. The food is refreshingly varied, with unique Sri Lankan and Western inspired dishes served every day.

During your time off

There are many places to explore when Lanka Yoga is your base. There are beaches, restaurants, cafes, and more in the local area. Our team loves organising optional activities during your breaks.     Choose between spacious upstairs rooms or a tranquil garden room at Lanka Yoga, both offering breathtaking lake views. Rooms are shared with 2-3 other students and feature large bathrooms with separate toilets, two showers, and two sinks.

  • Twin Share - 1400€

    These spacious rooms feature two single king beds, providing ample space for each occupant, and large bathrooms. Available both upstairs in the main villa and downstairs in the guest block, offering peaceful surroundings and stunning views of Koggala Lake.

  • Private Room - 1600€

    Enjoy low views of Koggala Lake in our private option rooms, which feature a comfortable king bed and essential amenities. Relax on the natural balcony while soaking in the stunning views.

    A truly life-changing experience at Lanka Yoga 🌿 🧘🏼‍♀️ Lanka Yoga is pure magic. From the very first moment, you can feel the energy of the place — held between lush jungle, the shimmering lake, and the ever-present sound of nature. It’s more than a location — it’s a sanctuary. I did my Hatha Yoga Teacher Training here with Aaron and Paige, and it was the most transformative, heart-opening time of my life. The depth, authenticity, and gentle guidance they offered helped me grow in ways I could never have imagined. Their wisdom and presence are beyond words. I feel so deeply grateful to have learned from both of them — not only about yoga, but about myself. The food was absolutely divine — nourishing, colourful, full of love and intention.     Did my yoga teacher training here, and everything was absolutely better than I could’ve dreamt of. All the teachers are sweet and talented and makes learning incredibly fun! The place and accommodation is so stunning and the staff are so sweet and makes sure your stay is so comfortable. The food was delicious and the dogs are so cute. I was fulfilled in all aspect🥹 can really only highly recommend!

    I did the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training here at Lanka Yoga and what a wonderful experience it was! All the staff was super friendly and kind. The food was always very delicious and to wake up to that view everyday was a dream. Aaron & Paige were the best teachers ever and made the whole training a magical experience! I hope to be back soon for some more yoga!!

    You feel right at home soon as you place your foot into Lanka yoga. The property is beautiful, clean and spacious. I did the Hatha Yoga training and I must say Aaron and Paige have incredible depth in their teachings of Yoga.

    Simon Borg-Olivier, MSc, BAppSc (Physiotherapy), APAM c-IAYT, is a well-known figure in the field of yoga and physical therapy. He has studied and taught traditional posture, movement, breathing and meditation, with great masters from Tibet, Japan, India, and China for more than 50 years. Simon was introduced to Yoga at an early age and has studied directly with Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, Sri K. Pattabhi Join, Sri T.K.V. Desikachar, Natanga Zhander (Shandor Remete) and Master Zhen Hua Yang.
